JAKARTA – After obtaining operational approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), PT Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) officially launched its new identity on Thursday (October 2, 2025) as a sharia bank that aims to become a driving force for the future of Indonesia's Islamic financial industry.
As is known, BSN was established from the spin-off of the Sharia Business Unit (UUS) of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN), which successfully acquired Bank Victoria Syariah.
“As we know, BTN completed the acquisition of Bank Victoria Syariah on June 5, 2025. As part of the corporate action to implement the spin-off, the bank officially changed its name today to Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN),” said BSN President Director Alex Sofjan Noor at the launch event for BSN's new name and logo in Jakarta, Thursday (2/10/2025).
The new BSN name and logo carry a deep philosophy that will guide the company's future corporate direction.
“The name "Bank Syariah Nasional" reflects a grand vision to serve all segments of society. Meanwhile, the word "Nasional" emphasizes wide reach, trust, and credibility,” Alex explained.
The “Sharia” identity, he added, represents a commitment to implementing Sharia principles with integrity and professionalism.
“This is not merely a label, but must become a work culture and guide business decisions for every BSN employee,” he said.
Alex also explained that the BSN logo design adopts elements from BTN's corporate design, featuring a bold and dynamic structure.
“The BSN logo represents the spirit of modernization, innovation, and relevance to changing times. The use of lowercase letters symbolizes humility, friendliness, and approachability,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the five-pointed star symbol represents Justice, Blessing, Diversity, Sustainability, and Renewal. The star also symbolizes professionalism and integrity in implementing Sharia principles.
“With this, BSN is present to listen, understand, and accompany customers throughout their life journey. This is the bank's promise to society to progress and prosper together,” he added.
According to Alex, the change in BSN's name and logo marks the beginning of a new journey for the company toward achieving its vision of becoming a trusted financial partner for families through Sharia-based services.
“This journey has just begun. The presence of Bank Syariah Nasional is not merely to fulfill regulatory requirements, but carries a major mandate to expand access to Sharia financial services, support national development, and bring blessings to all Indonesians,” Alex concluded.
