Surabaya – PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) officially inaugurated the BTN Digital Store (KCP Digital) at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) Lidah Wetan on Friday, November 21, 2025, as part of its digital service expansion in Surabaya. The BTN Digital Store adopts a self-service concept, enabling customers to complete almost all banking transactions independently, with assistance from staff or “superstaff” when needed.
Unesa was selected as the launch location due to its long-standing strategic partnership with BTN since 2006. All campus payments are integrated with BTN, covering transactions for approximately 70,000 students as well as payroll services for more than 2,300 lecturers and employees. With the presence of the BTN Digital Store, academic transactions and financial needs within the campus community are expected to become faster and more efficient, eliminating long queues.
Rector of Unesa, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, stated that BTN's digital service provides direct benefits to the university and helps streamline teaching and learning activities, as all payment needs can be accessed from a single service point.
“The Digital Store simplifies transactions for students, lecturers, and staff. BTN has consistently supported the university's banking needs,” he said.
BTN's Director of Network & Retail Funding, Rully Setiawan, explained that the BTN Digital Store offers a modern banking experience without traditional teller barriers. Transactions are carried out through self-service digital devices, while superstaff are available to assist with any technical issues.
With this concept, the Digital Store is significantly faster than conventional branches. For example, opening a savings account via machine takes only 3–5 minutes, compared to 20–40 minutes through manual processes. “We provide fast and efficient services aligned with increasingly digital customer behavior,” Rully said.
He further added that expanding Digital Stores within university environments is part of BTN's strategy to strengthen its digital user base among younger generations. BTN is also exploring further collaboration with Unesa, including financial literacy programs, student internships, and potential career opportunities in the banking sector for graduates.
“Through this digital initiative, BTN aims to sustainably increase low-cost funds,” he noted.
Currently, BTN operates eight Digital Stores across Indonesia, including locations in the DPR RI complex, the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and several strategic areas in Jakarta.
As part of its ambition to become a preferred transactional bank, BTN plans to expand the number of Digital Stores to 23 units by the end of 2025 and reach 100 units by 2027 through branch conversions and new openings in high-activity areas such as commercial zones and universities.
BTN is also developing the Digital Store concept into a hybrid service that combines banking transactions with social spaces, aiming to attract younger users and create closer engagement with customers.
