Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) Bengkulu Branch, in collaboration with the Bengkulu chapter of Real Estate Indonesia (REI), planted 1,000 trees around the Kemiling Permai V Housing Complex in Betungan, Selebar District, Bengkulu City, on Friday, 26 September 2025. The initiative, held under the theme “Sapo Suruh (One Tree One House)”, was attended by Bengkulu Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mardiyono, S.I.K., M.Si., the Mayor of Bengkulu, and representatives from both institutions.
In his speech, the Regional Police Chief expressed appreciation for the greening initiative, noting that tree planting plays an essential role in creating healthier and more livable communities.
“Planting trees is a long-term investment for our children and grandchildren. A greener environment provides cleaner air, reduces the risk of flooding, and becomes a valuable legacy for future generations,” — Inspector General Mardiyono
As part of the collaboration, the Chairman of REI Bengkulu symbolically handed over one housing unit each to the Bengkulu Regional Police and the Bengkulu City Government. The Sapo Suruh program aims to encourage every household to plant at least one tree, fostering a greener and more sustainable residential ecosystem.
The event concluded with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony by the Regional Police Chief, the Mayor, and other invited officials, followed by a call for the community to actively participate in nurturing the newly planted trees to support long-term environmental sustainability.
