PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is collaborating with Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) to expand digital banking services for students and lecturers through the BTN Digital Store. BTN Network & Retail Funding Director, Rully Setiawan, stated that the BTN Digital Store at KCP Digital Unesa Lidah Wetan adopts a self-service concept supported by super staff. With this new approach, customers can carry out nearly all banking transactions independently, while assistance is available when needed.
Unesa was selected as the launch location because it has been a strategic partner of BTN since 2006, making all campus payments fully integrated with BTN. This integration covers educational transactions for approximately 70 thousand students and payroll services for more than 2,300 lecturers and employees. With the presence of the Digital Store on campus, academic-related transactions and financial services are expected to be processed more quickly and efficiently without long queues.
According to Rully, the Digital Store provides a modern banking experience without teller partitions found in conventional branches, as transactions are conducted through self-service digital devices. The super staff are responsible for offering guidance in the event of technical issues. BTN currently operates eight Digital Stores across Indonesia and aims to expand the number to 23 locations by the end of 2025 and reach 100 Digital Stores by 2027 through converting existing branch offices as well as opening new sites in community activity centers, including commercial areas and university campuses.
To strengthen its digital service ecosystem, BTN is supported by the Bale by BTN super app, which, as of October 2025, had reached 3.3 million users with 1.7 billion transactions and a transaction value of IDR 82.16 trillion. Rully added that expanding Digital Stores within university environments is one of BTN’s strategies to grow its digital user base among the younger generation. BTN is also preparing further collaboration opportunities with Unesa, ranging from financial literacy programs and student internships to exploring job opportunities in the banking sector for Unesa graduates. Unesa Rector, Prof. Dr. Nurhasan, noted that the new digital services offer direct benefits as they simplify the transaction needs of students, lecturers, and employees.
